The large porcelain koro, or incense burner is distinguished by its monumental form and elaborate decoration. Raised on four sculpted feet, the rounded body is flanked by upright, stylised handles and topped with a domed, lid crowned by a turquoise guardian lion (shishi). The surface is richly painted in vibrant enamels of iron red, turquoise, cobalt blue, and gold. A central narrative panel depicts a group of robed scholars or sages rendered with delicate linework and patterned garments. Above and around this scene, bands of geometric and floral ornament create a layered decorative structure.
