The rounded bodies are covered with densely arranged panels depicting landscape scenes, architectural motifs, and stylised floral patterns, rendered in a rich, traditional Imari palette of iron red, cobalt blue, turquoise, and gold. The surface design is organised into irregular cartouches featuring mountains, birds, gardens, pavilions, and flowers bordered by geometric and floral bands. Within these panels appear scenes of courtiers and samurai, evoking traditional Japanese painting. The domed lids continue the decorative scheme.
